Today at Challengers… someone just came in looking for “comics about Batman.” Not comics starring Batman or comics with Batman (in them), comics about Batman. Like you’d ask for comics about cooking or comics about sports. Batman wasn’t a character, he was a subject. Batman was a genre.
I think that’s amazing, and it made my head spin a bit.
Has Batman transcended fiction and become a topic? Is Batman not a single character? Does he contain multitudes?
